DAY 01 BUENOS AIRES (Argentina)
Arrival to Ezeiza international airport, welcome and transfer to your hotel. Today we see the sights of this cosmopolitan city. In the early part of the 20th century, Argentina was one of the richest countries in the world. The grand public buildings of Buenos Aires reflect this opulent era. The city is known as the "Paris of South America" because of its wide boulevards and European-style architecture. Afternoon panoramic tour of Buenos Aires: "Plaza de Mayo", the Government Palace (Pink House), the Cathedral, the City Hall, San Telmo, -where the city was born 425 years ago-, Puerto Madero, neighborhood recovered from the 19th century and which has became the most exclusive residential area today; La Boca, where tango was born. We also visit the Recoleta Cemetery where Buenos Aires' richest citizens are buried in magnificent marble tombs elaborately decorated with statues. The most internationally-famous person buried here is "Evita" Peron. Overnight in Buenos Aires.
DAY 02 BUENOS AIRES
Morning excursion to El Tigre. Bus transportation to Maipu terminal station next to the Presidential Residence. Take the famous Coastline train, ultimate generation train which connects the most elegant residential areas facing the River Plate. Arriving at Delta station, board a catamaran boat to discover the wonders of the Parana River and the thousands of islands and islets crisscrossed by rivers and brooks. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Buenos Aires.
DAY 03 BUENOS AIRES
Full day Gaucho tour at the countryside. Drive to an "Estancia" (Ranch) for a "Gaucho" (cowboy) experience. Barbecue lunch, wine, popular singing and dancing show will give visitors an idea about the daily life of the Gaucho cowboys. Return to Buenos Aires in the late afternoon. Overnight in Buenos Aires.
DAY 04 BUENOS AIRES- IGUAZÚ -FOZ DE IGUAÇU (Argentina - Brazil)
Transfer to local airport to board the flight to Iguazu. On arrival, before checking in to our hotel we view the wonderful Iguazu Falls. visit of the Falls National Park in the Argentinean side, including the Devil's Throat. The United Nations has declared Iguazu Falls a protected area of worldwide importance. You can also take an optional boat ride to the base of the falls (100 pesos / 35 USD per person), or the local bus to Iguazu Town where you can explore and observe where three countries- Argentine, Brazil, and Paraguay come together. The tour ends at the selected hotel in the Brazilian side. Balance of the day at leisure. Overnight in Iguacu Falls
DAY 05 FOZ DE IGUAÇU (Iguacu Falls)
Morning visit to the Brazilian side of the falls with time for walking along the pathways. About 15 km (9 miles) before joining the Rio Parana, the Iguacu River broadens out, then plunges precipitously over an 80 m (263 foot) high cliff, the central of the 275 interlinking cataracts that extend nearly 3 km (2 miles) across the river. The scale of these falls is absolutely spectacular. Balance of the day at leisure. Optional by night: dinner and Latin show at "Rafain Cataratas" barbecue restaurant. Overnight in Iguacu Falls
DAY 06 FOZ DE IGUAÇU - RIO DE JANEIRO
Morning at leisure for last minute activities or relax by the pool. Transfer to the airport to board the flight to Rio de Janeiro. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. Seven million inhabitants of Rio or Cariocas, as the inhabitants are called, are jammed into one of the world's most beautiful city setting -- between ocean and mountains. This makes Rio one of the densely populated places on earth. There is a lust for life, and a love of romance, music, football, and dance that distinguishes the Cariocas from everyone else. Overnight in Rio de Janeiro ( Brazil).
DAY 07 RIO DE JANEIRO
The Christ of Corcovado is Rio's best-known icon and tourist landmark due to its worldwide popularity. It´s a concrete statue of 30 meters whose wide open arms seem to embrace the whole city. It was built by Hector Da Silva Costa with Paul Landowsky's assistance. The base stands on the top of the Corcovado hill (710 meters) offering a magnificent view of Rio. Then visit the Botanical Garden and the south district beaches. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Rio de Janeiro.
DAY 08 RIO DE JANEIRO
Morning city tour including the Sugar Loaf. Visit to the famous soccer stadium- Maracanan and historical downtown. Arrive at Urca neighborhood and embark in the cable-car up to the "Pan de Azucar". Spectacular view of the city and mountains. Overnight in Rio de Janeiro.
DAY 09 RIO DE JANEIRO - LIMA (Brazil -Peru)
Departure for the airport to board your flight to Lima. Arrive in Lima and transfer to selected hotel. Named the 'City of Kings' by the Spanish Conquistadors, Lima is the capital of Peru. Founded in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro, where the River Rimac meets the Pacific Ocean, this was the most important Spanish city during the colonial era with a population of about 100,000 inhabitants. Today the city is home to more than 7 million people. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Lima (Peru).
DAY 10 LIMA - CUSCO
Early this morning we fly to Cuzco, located in a fertile valley at 3354 m (11,004 feet). This is the archaeological capital of the Americas and the ancient capital of the Inca Empire that, at its height, stretched from Colombia in the north, through Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia, and down to central Chile in the south. Although the empire already existed in the 12th century, it remained small until the mid-15th century.Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. Afternoon city tour including: the Koricancha Temple or Temple of the Sun, the Cathedral, the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the Inca bath of Tambomachay, the labyrinth of Puca Pucara and the amphitheatre of Kenko. Overnight in Cusco.
DAY 11 CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY - CUSCO
Full day excursion to the Sacred Valley of Urubamba to visit the village of Pisac and its colourful market where artisans from the area congregate to sell their crafts. Onwards to Ollantaytambo, fortress built during the Inca Empire; visit the ruins excellent example of Inca military architecture. Overnight in Cusco.
DAY 12 CUSCO -MACHU PICCHU
Today we take the early morning train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu. The train journey to Machu Picchu is a highlight of any trip to the Andes; the scenery is simply spectacular, and the train allows you to enjoy it in comfort. The 3 hour trip takes us through a changing landscape with wonderful vistas of the mountains and, deep in its dramatic canyon, the beautiful Urubamba River. Machu Picchu, an Inca citadel hidden in the exuberant vegetation of the jungle from the Spanish expansion and discovered only in 1911 by the American Hiram Bingham. Popularly known as the 'Lost City of the Incas,' Machu Picchu is an ancient city of stone palaces, towers, temples and staircases. It is a very mysterious place, and to this day our knowledge of it remains sketchy. There are no records or artifacts on the site to indicate what any of the buildings were used for. Archaeologists have ascertained that the site was most likely a ceremonial centre and possibly used for administrative purposes for the populous region.. Lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Cusco. Overnight in Cusco.
DAY 13 CUSCO - LIMA
Transfer to the airport for the flight back to Lima. Upon arrival, transfer to selected hotel. Afternoon 3-hour city tour including the historical center of Lima: the Government Palace, the City Hall and the Cathedral at Plaza Mayor. Visit the Art Museum at the Cathedral and the 17th century Convent of San Francisco. Before returning to the hotel short tour of the residential districts of San Isidro and Miraflores. Overnight in Lima.
DAY 14 LIMA-HOME
Breakfast at the hotel and then transfer to the airport for your flight back home or continue with your chosen extension tour. EXTENSIONS: South America is a vast continent with great diversity. A brief two weeks long tour only allow us to visit a very limited number of highlights.
